17 Dec 2016 – Our December Vet Sesh was a huge success, we had 9 Veterans attend with a few of them bringing their partners along for support and a chance for them to be able to ask questions too. We wish you all a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to reconnecting in the new year.
26 Nov 2016 – This was our first Qld Veteran meet up and with the forecast of rain, it was a small and personable meeting. We were happy with how it played out and we will be looking for an all-weather location to hold future meetings.
23 Jul 2016 – After forming as an Ex-service Organisation we decided to step into our own identity as Weeded Warrior, a concept Mick & Bek had already started in mid 2014. We had a great meeting in the picturesque mountain town of Nimbin, 7 veterans made the journey south. With most attendees coming down from Qld, we will be looking to hold a meeting around the Brisbane area later this year.
18 Jun 2016 – After a research trip to the USA in Apr 2015, Mick was determined to create a similar program/organisation to one of the Ex-service groups they met whilst travelling. Weed for Warriors Project is a grassroots group of veterans creating a supportive community around medicinal cannabis with an aim to reduce veteran suicides. Through peer to peer rehabilitation and the trading of what actually works and what doesn’t, these meetings were helping give Vets their quality of life back along with a sense of belonging and purpose. This was our first meeting, we had 3 veterans turn up along with their support networks. 1 Army, 1 Air Force and 1 Fire & emergency paramedic. We deem a “Veteran” as anyone who has signed up to serve the country, whether that be foreign or domestically.
